July 2023

Summer News

We had a great turn out for the flag dedication and parade. Thanks to everyone who made it happen and we hope to make it an annual event. We were so proud to have the mayor and the boy scouts in attendance. The golf carts, strollers, dogs, walkers, etc. were decorated and so fun to watch. The snow cones were a great treat after the parade. View Photos here.

Annual Membership Meeting

The VOCF Annual Membership Meeting is scheduled for Saturday, July 29, at 11:00 am at the park. The Association Bylaws require that an Annual Meeting be held in July of each year.

Normally, the results of the Board elections are announced, and Board members are appointed from the nominees received in June. However, an election was not needed because only one nominee was received for each open Board seat. The nominees were as follows: Sherry Palmer (At-Large), Dan White (Chesapeake/ Franklin), Elizabeth Godwin (Condo Assoc), David Conner (Bradford), and Lisa Joseph (Mystic).

To conduct business at the annual meeting, a quorum must be present. This would require that 116 Association Members be in attendance. It is doubtful that we will meet this requirement. Should this happen, then formal appointments of these Board Members will occur at the regular Board meeting in August.

We would like to encourage you to attend the meeting. Without a quorum present, no official business can be completed. Nevertheless, we will be informally discussing the Board's focus for the remainder of 2023, and it is always nice to interact with neighbors. Joseph Castro, President of VOCF.

The next board meeting is scheduled for August 10th at 6:30 pm.

Pool Announcements

The pool has been so refreshing and perfect to swim in. It has been a great place to meet and greet our neighbors. Sandy and Alvin Tallant have done a wonderful job at maintaining and keeping the pool clean and safe for us.

During severe thunderstorms, the deadbolt on the swimming pool will be locked until 30 minutes past the last lightning strike.

A REMINDER: Those who drive to the pool or park, please display your parking stickers. Someone will be checking the cars parked in the 10 spaces and will tag those without a parking pass. Please contact the Tallants for your parking sticker and pool key. You can find their contact information here: HOA contact information.

The pool will close for the season September 4 at 9:00 pm.

Individual Community Mailboxes

The original community approved individual mailbox, distributed by Moultrie Manufacturing Co., is no longer available as of a few years ago. The VOCF board approved the following as an acceptable substitute for anyone needing to replace an existing one that has been damaged or anyone that has built a new home and is in one of the areas that the postal service allows the individual boxes. Below are some links and a picture for the new approved replacement mailboxes to be use in the community.

HOA Invoices Due

Invoices for the 2023 landowner dues were mailed in late May with a due date of June 30. Thank you to all our neighbors that have already paid their annual dues. If you have not yet paid (it happens, we get busy, it slips our minds), please submit your payment as soon as possible by sending a check or money order payable to Villages of Center Farm, to 100 Village Way, Unit A, Kingston. If you have any questions, please call the VOCF Treasurer, David Conner, at 865-621-3028.
